Penn State students performed these small, yet meaningful, random acts of kindness Wednesday on what would have been John William McKenzie Brady’s ninth birthday. John, more commonly known as Mack, was Schreyer Honors College Dean Christian Brady’s son, who died on New Year’s Eve from a rare blood infection.
The HDFS department offers a unique set of courses and experiences for Schreyer Honors College students. You will participate in honors seminars that are small, discussion-based classes with 6-12 students. You will be able to design a program of study that matches your interests and helps you reach your career goals. You will be able to register early for courses in any department or college, and you will receive individualized advising. All students have the opportunity to work one-on-one with a faculty member, and we help our Schreyer Scholars take advantage of internships, research experiences, study abroad, and many other exciting opportunities available at a world-class research university like Penn State.

Most Schreyer Honors College students majoring in HDFS are in the Life Span Developmental Science track of the major. Instead of completing a full semester internship, they do smaller internships during their junior and senior years while also completing a senior thesis. Therefore the requirements you see below fit easily into a 4-year plan of study.
The Schreyer Honors College Student Council (SHC SC) aims to provide productive and fun leadership opportunities to scholars through academic, service and social activities. It serves as a forum for the interests of scholars and acts as a link between the administration and the students. We are always looking for new members and new ideas, so please come join us and help us constantly improve the lives of scholars.The is Penn State's University-wide undergraduate honors program. Baccalaureate degree-seeking students in all of Penn State's academic colleges and the Division of Undergraduate Studies may simultaneously be members of the Schreyer Honors College and pursue a broad set of opportunities for study, research, and scholarly exploration. The mission of the Schreyer Honors College is to promote academic excellence, a global perspective, leadership development and civic engagement.
